DESCRIPTION:Trans* Experiences in the Music Scene: Talk and Skillshare with Maja Hagedorn and Performance by Beth Munroe with local support by Julio Perdido. \nTalk and Skillshare with Maja Hagedorn. \nMaja operates Queers to The Front Booking\, an international tour booking agency that prioritizes marginalized artists and books mainly DIY shows in the US\, UK\, and Europe Mainland. Maja’s talk will incorporate her experience as a trans*woman who\, “…spent a good part of her life identifying as a cis-man\, engaging in both men’s soccer teams and all-male punk rock bands before finally coming out at age 20”. Maja’s talk will walk through her\, “personal evolution and find out about my steps to coming out and eventually growing into the trans* woman that I am today. Sharing experiences of surroundings such as the punk rock scene\, the BDSM and fetish scene\, feminist activist groups but also men’s sports teams”. Discussions will explore\, “facets of gender identity and gender expression… hurdles in navigating society as a transgender woman…gender dysphoria” \nBeth Munroe (London)\nIndietronica from London\, England \nBeth Munroe is a DIY london-based Indietronica artist\, guitarist\, vocalist\, synth player\, loop artist and producer. Using soulful vocals and thoughtful lyrics alongside guitar\, synth\, samples and loops to create an ambient wall of sound. DESCRIPTION:Friday\, November 22\n8:00 – 10:00 PM\n$5-$20\nAll Ages \n~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\nInterpretace – 40 Years of Sovereign Interpretation:\nMusical Documentary about Czechoslovakia’s seminal Industrial/Noise band in celebration of 40 years of original\, collaborative\, and brutally honest music.\n“Back in the early ’80s\, when the Czech Republic was still part of Czechoslovakia\, and Czechoslovakia was still behind the Iron Curtain\, a cassette of Interpretace’s music got smuggled out of Czechoslovakia\, and found itself in the hands of Rudolfo Protti in Northern Italy\, who then released it on his record label\, Old Europa Cafe. This release introduced Western Europe to the emerging underground Industrial/Noise scene in Socialist Czechoslovakia. Years later\, an American collector bought a trunk full of Industrial/Noise cassettes and eventually posted some of his favorites to Discogs\, a website for record collectors. In 2009\, Richard Charvat\, one of the founding members of Interpretace\, and an avid record collector himself\, saw the listing on Discogs. Until that moment\, no one in the band knew that their music had been released.\nInterpretace began making music in 1979\, and this year they celebrate 40 years of highly original\, radically collaborative and uncompromisingly honest music.
