Geist & the Sacred Ensemble:
Geist & the Sacred Ensemble forge a doom-inflected folk ritualism; dirges tinged with Eastern psychedelia and meandering meditative trances. Their tunes exist as an ever-changing pilgrimage; transforming their abstract drifts into apocalyptic folk hymns or private confessionals. In addition to acoustic and electric guitars, bass and percussion kits. They use gongs, gamelans, banjo and tools like power drills, hammers and chains to add texture.
Geist started solo in 2005 after Michael Ray Sauder left Geist Road in Lancaster, Pa (PA Dutch Country) and hitched-hiked around the United States with a childhood friend. The music is inspired from that trip and experiences of growing up as a gravedigger from a Christian household. By 2009 a rotating cast of musicians joined in and Geist & the Sacred Ensemble was born.

Die Geister Beschwören:
Die Geister Beschwören (“Call Up The Ghosts”) is an exploration of dusty field recordings and instrumentation collected from around the globe. Die Geister materialized in the late nineties from behind the Redwood Curtain and has been observed developing modestly alongside the psychedelic roller coasters, Datura Blues and Beast, Please Be Still. While these outfits satisfy a collective effort and engage in more grandiose musical pursuits, Die Geister Beschwören demonstrates an enthusiasm for Ethnomusicology and American Primitive, with camaraderie towards the New Weird America.
